The National Association for Child Abduction Prevention, (N.A.C.A.P.)
is a community-based 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization
advocating the use of education and technology to safeguard children
throughout the United States.
N.A.C.A.P.
is the first organization of its kind to successfully integrate, synthesize
and distribute advanced biometric, radio frequency and satellite technologies
together in a comprehensive approach to preventing and finding missing
children.
N.A.C.A.P.
is first to introduce the CDID, the most comprehensive digital
child identification system available anywhere in the United States.
Parents can use the CDID to record their children's complete medical
history, including DNA information and a library of digital photographs,
video and fingerprints onto a single-source CD rom. The CDID is
insurance that a parent will have all of the information necessary to
aid emergency medical staff in the event a child is rushed to a hospital
or suddenly becomes missing. The digital format is compatible with the
newly introduced Amber Alert system and provides instantaneously distribution
of a missing child's information to law enforcement, child locator organizations,
volunteer search crews, private detectives and members of the media.
N.A.C.A.P.
is actively seeking to create corporate and community partnerships that
will serve to promote child safety awareness and our comprehensive child
identification services in communities throughout the United States.

Additionally,
N.A.C.A.P. is working diligently with policy makers, law enforcement
agencies and community safety organizations to revolutionize the way
children are preemptively identified in schools, day care centers and
at community based events.
Now more
than ever, children are vulnerable to becoming victims of cyber-crime,
neighborhood sex offenses and non custodial or stranger abduction. N.A.C.A.P.
is committed to educating parents, children and professionals on the
subject of child vulnerability prevention. N.A.C.A.P. needs your support
to help convey our message of safety preparation through the use of
education and technology.
Equally
important, is our commitment to educate parents on recovery techniques
and available resources that a parent can utilize in the event that
their child disappears. N.A.C.A.P. prepares parents to respond and not
just merely react to a missing children situation.
A parent's
role by today's standards is much more complex and challenging than
ever before imaginable!
In fact,
in a report published last year, the Department of Justice over 800,000
were reported missing last year due to runaway, throwaway and abduction
incidents. It is estimated that roughly a third of the reported missing
children were victims of abduction. Approximately, over 117,000 family
abductions/33,000 non family abductions took place in 1999. (NISMART)
Compare
this to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Child Maltreatment
2000 report, which estimated the amount of children that fall victim
to abuse and neglect is over 879,000 and that over 250,000 each year
are placed in foster care as a result of child abuse.
At N.A.C.A.P.,
we believe child abduction is child abuse! We also believe child abduction
is largely preventable with education and safety preparation. It is
for this reason that N.A.C.A.P. serves the general public at large by
providing parents, children and professionals who work with children
with the tools, knowledge and resources to protect their children.

At N.A.C.A.P.,
we believe a comprehensive approach to safeguarding children is the
"first step" in eliminating child abduction in this country.
Ultimately, we hope our efforts and safety principles will serve as
a foundation to provide and encourage all parents and professionals
who work with children to reinforce our goals and objectives as they
relate to the safety of children. We believe every child deserves the
right to feel and be safe and that the burden of protecting our children
is a shared responsibility.
N.A.C.A.P.
is dedicated to empowering children, parents and professionals with
a message of hope and understanding that together we can eliminate child
abduction in this country, one community at a time.
